Q1. Last Thursday Amazon announced it intends to open a second corporate headquarters (in addition to its original in Seattle). Estimates are the company could invest $5bb and create 50,000 high paying jobs at the new site. How much in the way of corporate tax exemptions (over the next 15 years) would you be willing to see your state and local govt give to attract Amazon, presuming it would locate within 50 miles of your town? (If this is moot because you live in an area too rural, please answer as if you lived in or near a city of at least 1mm people, which is Amazon's threshold.)

I'd give Amazon no corporate tax break, and in fact I'd prefer they didn't come at all

Pollster YouGov have asked three times since 2014 which person people most admire.
Its an open ended poll (not multiple choice) , globally distributed, and each year Bill Gates has won.
Mark Zuckerberg finished 7th in 2016, Jeff Bezos did not make the top 20.

Just in the US (as opposed to globally) Gates finished 3rd in 2016 (behind Barack Obama and Pope Francis) and Bezos was not among the top 30.

Wal Mart is the largest employer in the US at 2.3mm.
NUmbers 2-12 are bunched between 300k and 440k employees.
Amazon currently has 341k employees to rank 8th.
Most of the top 12 employers are retailers, the exceptions being IBM, Berkshire Hathaway, Fed Ex, and UPS.

Experts say Boeing was granted $8.5bb in tax incentives to manufacture a new jet in the state of Washington, and that the winning bidder for Amazon will likely pay in that range to land the new HQ.
