According to the New York Times, Rahami's father says he told the FBI in 2014 that his son had become radicalized and that the FBI investigated but said the son was clean. The article also states that the father made the statement to the FBI after a domestic altercation where the son stabbed another son, and the FBI believed that to be the father's motivation in calling his son a terrorist.
