Q1. At 6.32 pm EST Tuesday night, President Trump announced that the US and Iran had agreed to a two-week cease-fire. The deal, which was brokered by Pakistan, calls for the US and Israel to pause their attacks, while Iran allows ships safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

In reaction to the agreement, oil prices dropped 20% and US stocks rose 3%. However, those moves reversed somewhat Wednesday, after Iran announced it was re-closing the Strait due to Israel’s continued attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon.

What do you think will generally be the case for the two-week cease-fire period? (check all that apply)

Q2. In previous days, President Trump said he would order the destruction of Iran’s bridges, desalination plants, power generators, and other civilian infrastructure if the Strait remained closed.

Tuesday at 8.06 am EST he had posted, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again” unless the Strait was opened by 8pm EST. As mentioned above, a deal was announced at 6.32pm.

Q3. President Trump said an Iranian ten-point peace plan is a “workable basis on which to negotiate” a permanent peace.

Iran's ten-point plan:
• End to US attacks on Iran
• End to Israel attacks on Iran, Hezbollah
• Iran controls Strait of Hormuz, charges fee
• Iran commits to not build nuclear weapons
• Acceptance of Iran’s right to enrich uranium
• US military withdrawal from the Middle East
• The release of frozen Iranian assets
• UN resolution making any deal binding
• Iran agrees to peace treaties with Gulf states
• Lifting all sanctions on Iran

President Trump said he would not allow enrichment, Israel has continued to strike Hezbollah, and Iranian control over the Strait would be a new occurrence that would contravene international maritime law.
