Netflix's most popular series "Squid Game" had not a not-so-subtle political message
Q1. Netflix and Paramount are in a bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery.
Netflix is the streaming giant and production studio, with 300m global subscribers (85m in the US) and a valuation of $450b.
Paramount is the $15b media conglomerate that owns CBS, Paramount Pictures, Showtime, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Comedy Central.
Warner Bros. Discovery is the $71b media conglomerate that owns HBO, Discovery Channel, DC Comics, CNN, Warner Bros Pictures, and MGM.
Any deal would need government approval on anti-trust and media concentration grounds. President Trump said he will be involved the approval process.
Do you have a preferred buyer of Warner, and do you think presidents should be involved in media merger approvals?

Q2. In 1933, Eleanor Roosevelt first proposed a national cultural center to create work for unemployed actors during the Depression, though it never materialized. In 1950, Rep Arthur Klein (D, NY) revived the idea, and in 1958 President Eisenhower signed the National Cultural Center Act into law with $20m of the estimated $70m construction costs to come from private donations.
In 1961, with only $13k raised, President Kennedy appointed new leadership to the project. Subsequent to Kennedy's 1963 assassination, with $13m having been raised, the Cultural Center's board re-envisioned the project as a memorial to JFK, and Congress renamed it the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The fundraising goal was ultimately reached with corporate and philanthropic donations, including $500k from the Kennedy family.
Earlier this month, the Kennedy Center board, which is for the most part appointed by incoming presidents, voted to rename it the Trump-Kennedy Center, though it is unclear if the name change will stick since it requires congressional approval.
What would you prefer as the name for the US national cultural center?

Q3. The 2026 FIFA World Cup (of soccer) will be co hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada. The draw for the tournament (revealing each team's early round opponents) was conducted Dec 5 at the Kennedy Center and televised live. It is estimated more than a billion people globally watched the draw (FIFA says 3.5b people watched the 2022 World Cup matches themselves).
At the draw, FIFA president Gianni Infantino presented President Trump with the FIFA Peace Prize, a new annual award given to someone who, according to FIFA, has taken "exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and by doing so have united people across the world."
FIFA has not said who else was nominated or who participated in choosing the winner. Infantino supported Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, posting on Instagram that Trump deserved it, though that award was ultimately given to Venezuela’s opposition leader María Corina Machado.
Why do you think is the main reason FIFA is awarding its own Peace Prize?
