Q1. Last Friday, contemporary architecture pioneer Frank Gehry died from a respiratory illness in Santa Monica, CA at age 96. He was among the most celebrated architects of the past 100 years. His best-known works include the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, which topped Architectural Digest's list of the 100 most important buildings of the 20th century, and the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
Gehry was born in Toronto, and moved with his family to Los Angeles at age 18. His philosophy was that architecture is sculpture, and frequently used bending, shimmering forms to convey movement and fluidity in his buildings.
