Q1. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) is a nationalist political party that advocates deporting German citizens of foreign origin, reminding some of early Nazi plans to deport Jews to Madagascar.

The AfD has 20% support among Germans, is polling 2nd in an upcoming election, and in 2024 become the first far-right party since the Nazis to win a German state election. However, the AfD has yet to be part of a governing coalition because of a pact (known as "the firewall”) among other political parties to refuse to work with the AfD.

Speaking in Munich on Friday, US Vice President JD Vance criticized German leaders for what he said were their efforts to shun conservative parties, calling on them to end the firewall.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz rebuked Vance for interfering in German elections saying "That is not done, certainly not among friends and allies."

Do you approve of Germany's firewall against the AfD, and what should US politicians say publicly about it?

Q2. The US DOGE Service Temporary Organization, more frequently known as the Dept of Govt Efficiency (DOGE), is officially a temporary contracted government organization whose purpose is to carry out President Trump's agenda of federal spending cuts and deregulation.

DOGE head Elon Musk has campaigned for the AfD and other far right parties in nearly 20 countries, including Brazil, Ireland, France, Argentina, Italy, Turkey, and the Netherlands. Musk has been accused by leaders in those countries of meddling in their elections.

Do you think Musk should be thought of as a private citizen or emissary of the US government when campaigning abroad, and do you support his right to promote foreign political parties?

Q3. On Saturday, a hockey game in Montreal between Team USA and Team Canada had three fights within 9 seconds of the start.

Prior to the start, fans in Montreal lustily booed the US national anthem. Booing the US anthem has become a regular occurrence in NHL and NBA games played in Canada since President Trump started suggesting the northern neighbor become the 51st state and threatening to impose 25% tariffs on Canadians imports.

What do you make of the boos?
