Jones has referred to the Sandy Hook Elementary school shootings in which twenty children and six teachers were killed as a “hoax” perpetrated by “crisis actors.” A jury will decide the amount awarded. Remington cited a federal law that protected the manufacturers of privately owned weapons from wrongful death lawsuits. But the families successfully argued that the company’s guns were “designed as a military weapon", allowing the case to proceed. The plaintiffs seek $225mm, plus punitive damages.
